Abstrakt

Steady state thermal conduction and radiation are investigated for an emitting and absorbing, non-scattering, optically gray medium whose thermophysical properties are independent of temperature. The problem is formulated for the axisymmetric case of an infinitely long, straight circular cylinder with a line source along its axis. The solution to the resulting non-linear integro-differential equation is developed on the basis of which is proposed a method to identify the thermal conductivity and the extinction coefficient of an optically gray, non-scattering material experimentally.
