Abstrakt

Critical heat flux in rod clusters is being investigated at CISE in connection with the CIRENE reactor development (pressure tube, D2O moderated, evaporating H20 cooled). The studies are being carried out on 19 rod clusters (7 rod clusters have also been considered) to determine the influence of some geometrical parameters.
This paper aims to summarize the results so far obtained, in particular with reference to the influence of a number of parameters, such as rod diameter, rod spacing, length, number of rods, radial power distribution, etc. Experimental data are studied according to an approach based on a rod-centered subchannel division of the cross section.
A brief analysis is also given of the limitations of the existing correlations.
