Abstrakt

Consideration is given to cylinders arranged in equilateral triangular or square arrays. Both the cases of uniform circumferential wall temperature (Case 1) and uniform circumferential wall heat flux (Case 2) have been investigated. A solution by point-matching method in terms of a series containing Bessel functions has been obtained. Nusselt numbers nave been evaluated in terms of Rayleigh numbers and the spacing to diameter ratios. As spacing ratio increases, the influence of buoyancy on heat transfer rate diminishes and also the results of Case 1 and 2 tend to be identical. In addition, as the Rayleigh number and the spacing ratio are increased, the square and the triangular arrays produce the same Nusselt numbers.
