Abstrakt

The accurate measurement of local velocity and size of bubbles in the 0.1 to 1.0 mm range by LDA has recently been demonstrated. This development makes local measurement of slip velocity feasible in bubbly flows of limited void fraction if the liquid velocity can be measured at the same point. One method to achieve thus is to use two photodetectors located in the forward and 90° directions for liquid and bubble velocity and size measurements respectively. This paper provides the basis for the use of the 90° detector for the bubble measurements.
