Abstrakt

Heat transfer to gases flowing with fully developed turbulent velocity profile between parallel plates has been investigated. The energy equation is written with the streamwise molecular and turbulent thermal diffusivities. The variation of density and viscosity with the temperature is taken into account by the introduction of a crosstream dimensionless coordinate depending by the same variables. The energy equation has been solved numerically with a finite difference method. Heat transfer results, for gases with Pr=0.7, are presented in the ranges Re = 104−105 and TW/TB = 1.0−1.7, both in the thermal entrance region and in the following one. The predictions are compared to the experiments performed in concentric annuli.
