Abstrakt

Methods for calculating the critical Reynolds number in pipes and infinite channels are discussed according to the modified Meisser's entropy principle that yield results in good coincidence with the experiments. Once the critical Reynolds number is determined, interpolation polynomials are used to obtain friction factors and heat transfer in the transition region. Comparison with the results of other investigators of transition region phenomena seems to vindicate the above approach.
