Abstrakt

Radiation heat transfer in a flow of a radiating medium between parallel flat plates is studied. It is shown that in the case of high temperatures or large absorption coefficients of the medium, the radiation term emerges so predominant over the convection and paticularly conduction term that the last may be neglected in the energy equation, without distorting the physical picture of the phenomenon. The energy equation consisting only of the radiation and convection terms is solved numerically. The temperature profiles and Nusselt numbers thus obtained are compared with those including the conduction term.
