ESTABLISHED LAMINAR AND TURBULENT CHANNEL FLOW OF A RADIATING MOLECULAR GAS
Abstrakt
The equation of conservation of energy fixing the temperature profile in a hydrodynamically established channel flow is formulated exactly for the case of a nongray gas and solved numerically for the Nusselt number pertaining to the thermally established region. In the case of laminar flow, comparison is made to a previously-derived integral solution and a rederived one of more convenient form. In the case of turbulent flow, comparison is made to a previous solution for volume heating. The volume heating results are approximately 8 per cent greater than the exact results for established channel flow.
