Predicted Response of Multi-Ceramic Particles to Rapid Heating and Cooling

Abstrakt

Of interest is the thermal response to rapid heating and cooling of porous, alumina-titania particles that are composed of nanometer-sized alumina and titania grains. The one-dimensional transient energy equation is solved numerically to predict the heating, melting, densification, and re-solidification of the material. Results are presented to illustrate the system response, and the sensitivity of particle response to ambient conditions.
