Abstrakt

Explicit analytical solutions for combined radiation and conduction in a plane layer are obtained for two complementary regions of strongly interacting, radiation predominant systems and weakly interacting or conduction predominant systems. The solutions are based on a differential equation with approximated coefficients which is formulated by using the exact divergence-of-tensor representation of radiative heat flux. An increase in total heat flux due to the interaction effect is found for all cases. The graphically interpolated results of the two complementary solutions are in good agreement with the numerical results.
