Abstrakt

An experimental study of sodium boiling heat transfer from the surface of a horizontal tube under natural convection has been done. The measurements include the pressure range from 8 to 600 mm Hg and heat flux range from 105 to 1.5 × 106 kcal/m2h. Heat transfer coefficients versus pressure and heat flux have been obtained. The results of measurements are compared with the data of other authors. Bubble formation conditions on the heating surface have been considered. It has been shown that when the critical radius of nucleating bubble is large and wetting angle is small the heater surface temperature is subjected to pulsations and that sometimes boiling changes to natural convection regime.
