Abstrakt

Sensitivity analysis is applied to the design of a feed-effluent heat exchanger system. The method involves a computer program which uses the Monte Carlo simulation technique. The method can be used to any shell and tube heat exchanger system by running a simulated factorial design experiment. The sensitivity coefficients of the outcome variables to the uncertainties in the input variables can be computed, and the most critical components in the system identified. The application of the method is described by a demonstration problem.
