NEW APPLICATIONS OF CONFORMAL MAPPING TO THE UNSTEADY HEAT CONDUCTION PROBLEM
Abstrakt
A semi-analytical finite element method is described which enables the computation of transient temperature fields in two-dimensional regions. Conformal mapping techniques have been used to break down the regions under consideration into suitable macro elements. A new method for the computation of the conformal mappings of simply and doubly connected domains onto a circular disk and an annulus respectively is presented. With the aid of the Galerkin method, a system of ordinary differential equations is derived which is solved by using the spectral decomposition of the system matrix. Numerical examples are presented concerning the temperature in the rolling of wire rod.
