Abstrakt

It is shown that spatial variations in temperature between nucleation sites may be of the same order as the mean wall superheat. Current models of nucleation site behaviour cannot describe the effects of the variations (spatial and temporal) in superheat. The model should specify activation and cessation superheats and a heat removal rate whilst active. This model predicts that some sites will cycle on and off and may behave in a chaotic manner.
