Abstrakt

A numerical investigation of natural convection in a vertical porous layer with one of the vertical walls maintained at a uniform heat flux has been carried out. The present model includes the Brinkman term and also the inertia term in addition to the Darcy resistance term. Investigations are first carried out in the Darcy regime to validate the scheme. The results are in excellent agreement with the available published results. The scheme is then applied to non Darcy regime to study the influence of Ra and Da as separate parameters. For the first time a correlation has been proposed in the non-Darcy regime for a square cavity, without combining Ra and Da as a single parameter.
