Abstrakt

A nonlinear model was developed to describe the heat transfer and temperature distribution in the skin and superficial tissues which included the influence of local temperature on skin blood flow. The relationship between blood flow and temperature was derived from the measurements of skin blood flow made by using laser Doppler flowmetry.

The model was used to simulate the dynamic response to the surface insulation, which has been used for identifying impairment in skin microcirculation and assessing skin blood flow by thermal clearance. It is concluded that the changing blood flow has little influence on the post-insulation skin surface temperature.
