NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF FLOW AND FRICTION IN LOUVRED FIN ARRAYS
Abstrakt
The results of a numerical investigation of flow and skin friction characteristics in a two-bank louvred plate fin array are presented. A novel grid method using body-fitted coordinates is described. This method greatly simplifies the introduction of fin thickness and geometrical parameter variations. The governing equation was solved using a finite volume solver and the k-ε turbulence model at high Reynolds numbers. Velocity vector diagrams, skin friction and mean flow angle predictions are presented for typical geometries in the Reynolds number range 10 to 2400.
