Abstrakt

Constant property laminar flow of purely viscous Non-Newtonian fluids in ducts of non-circular cross-sectional geometry is considered. Fully developed friction factors are compared with our own experimental data. For engineering purposes the method, developed by Kozicki, Chou and Tiu (1966) reproduces the data with sufficient accuracy. For slender duct cross-sections with large width to height ratio, analytical approximations for prediction of fully developed friction factors, entrance region pressure drops and Nusselt numbers for a constant heat flux boundary condition are reported.
