Abstrakt

Tests were performed to determine the local heat transfer coefficient and the associated pressure drop during evaporation and condensation of refrigerants. Results are presented for R22 and R407C (a long term replacement for R22) in a smooth horizontal tube.
Measurements were taken for mass fluxes between 70 and 400 kg/m2s for complete change of phase, at saturation pressures ranging from 7 to 11 bar for R22 and 9 to 12 bar for R407C.
This paper describes the test facility and associated test results. Overall pressure drop measurements and local heat transfer coefficient variation with refrigerant quality are presented for both condensation and evaporation tests.
