Abstrakt

The turbulent flow of air in a 2D cavity with Ra = 1.58×109 was calculated with the standard and RNG k-ε models and three different near-wall treatments. Mean velocity and mean temperature predictions with each of the six ensuing combinations were compared with experimental benchmark data and served to eliminate the non-equilibrium wall functions which produced the worst results with both k-ε models. Turbulence quantities predicted by the four other combinations were in very good agreement with LES results but agree only qualitatively with the experimental data.
