Abstrakt

In order to understand the influence of maximum hydraulic diameter (MHD) on the heat transfer performance of oscillating heat pipe (OHP), a copper tube with 6 mm inside diameter and 8 mm outside diameter was used to fabricate an OHP. The OHP has 8 turns. Water and alcohol was charged into the OHP separately. Heat transfer performance of the OHP was studied by experiments with the cooling water temperature of 20 °C, liquid filling ratio of 50%, and operating angle of 0 ° to 90 °. The results show that even the inner diameter of the OHP exceeds 91.6% of the maximum hydraulic diameter, it can still work and has good heat transfer performance. When the OHP charged with water and operated at the heat load of 1400 W, it can reach the minimum thermal resistance of 0.018 °C / W. Additionally, the optimal operating angle will be less than 90 ° when the diameter exceeds the diameter of MHD, but when the operating angle equal to 0 °, the oscillating heat pipe is difficult to start.
