THE INFLUENCE OF NATURAL CONVECTION ON HEAT- AND MASS TRANSFER IN NUCLEAR POWER PLANT PLENUMS UNDER STEADY-STATE AND TRANSIENT OPERATING CONDITIONS
Sinopsis
The results of experimental and numerical investigations on models of nuclear power plant plenums showed that under steady-state and transient operating conditions the natural convection causes the coolant temperature to be stratified at the Fr numbers < 1.0. The thermal stratification of the coolant introduces significant thermal stresses in the affected reactor components, exerts a great influence on the thermohydrawlic characteristics of the plant and makes difficult the control of the reactor.
