Sinopsis

New experimental and theoretical results on the heat transfer in Hele-Shaw cells of moderate or large ratios of height to width are given. Holographic interferometry is used to obtain temperature fields, Galerkin and Finite Difference methods do allow numerical simulation of steady and transient fluid flow in a Hele-Shaw cell. Special attention is given to the realized wave number of the steady convection and to the heat transfer of the oscillating flows prevailing for higher Rayleigh numbers.
