NUMERICAL STUDY OF HEAT TRANSFER SYSTEM WITH STAGGERED ARRAY OF VERTICAL FLAT PLATES USED AT LOW REYNOLDS NUMBER
Sinopsis
The results of numerical study made on heat transfer system with staggered array of vertical flat plates are presented and the basic study is made on availability of such a system as a heat exchanger to extract thermal energy from the waste heat. Numerical integration of governing equations of elliptic type differential equation allowing the variation of fluid properties enables to discuss the distribution of local Nusselt number in conjunction with low Reynolds number effect, trailing edge effect and the effect of superposed free convection. For the purpose to interprete the basic performance of the presently considered heat transfer system, the flow field and temperature field computed are discussed in detail. The difference between upward heated and downward cooled flow cases is also discussed in relation with variable fluid properties.
