PERIODIC-FLOW REGENERATORS: PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION FOR TRANSIENT PERFORMANCE
Sinopsis
Many industrial thermal regenerators are required to work under varying operating conditions. Cowper stoves must meet a time varying thermal load from an ironmaking furnace. Waste heat recovery rotary regenerators are employed to conserve the firing fuel for industrial processes where operating conditions may be anything but steady. An understanding of the transient performance of such regenerators is necessary if optimum design and operational criteria are to be developed.
The transient response of periodic flow regenerators to step changes in inlet gas temperature and in gas flow rate is examined for balanced and unbalanced systems. An attempt to parameterise thermal inertia will be discussed.
