INVESTIGATION OF CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER WHEN LIQUID METAL FLOWS IN A PIPE IN A LONGITUDINAL MAGNETIC FIELD
Sinopsis
This paper presents the experimental results of the effect of longitudinal magnetic field on convective heat transfer when liquid metal flows in a circular pipe in the range of
Reynolds numbers from 1300 to 10000; the Hartmann number being 0, 70 and 200. The experimental dependence of Nusselt number on Peclet number obtained in the absence of field revealed sharp variation in Nusselt number in the transition range. The experimental data obtained in the presence of magnetic field showed that an increase in the Hartmann number extends the laminar range of heat transfer. the calculation method has been proposed.
