Sinopsis

The results of experimental studies of critical heat flux and heat transfer with boiling potassium in tubes (P=1.1 to 1.3 bar) and critical heat flux with boiling water in tubes (P=1.7 bar) are presented herewith. The effect of mass velocity, heat length-diameter ratio, and nonuniform axial heat flux distribution on critical heat flux has been investigated. The resulting experimental data with boiling potassium and water are compared, and design procedures are recommended below.
