Sinopsis

A generalized closed form solution is presented for laminar thermal entrance problems with constant wall temperature. Results for circular ducts are presented and compared with those in the literature. The method is general and can be applied to ducts of non-circular cross sections too. Calculations for one such geometry, right triangular ducts, are presented. The results for right triangular and right-angled isosceles triangular ducts are found to compare well with those available in the literature. The method can also be modified to accommodate other boundary conditions.
