Sinopsis

A numerical algorithm utilizing the curvilinear body-fitted coordinate system for calculating the complex transport flow problems is presented. The method is based on the strong conservation law form and a line iterative solution procedure. To resolve both the complex flow boundaries and the internal flow structures requires a flexible grid system. To demonstrate this point, numerical calculations for a three-dimensional problem of the opposed jets normal to cross-flow in complex geometry and a two-dimensional adaptive grid solution of the natural convection flow in square cavity with high Rayleigh number (Ra = 107) have been conducted. Interesting flow characteristics are revealed to illuminate the salient features of the present numerical algorithm.
