Sinopsis

Experiments have been conducted to study the dynamics of the falling liquid film in turbulent flow. From theoretical consideration it is found that the thickness of the falling film is a function of the film Reynolds number and Kapitza number (µ4g/ρσ3). Further, the theoretical investigation is extended to study the heat transfer rates to the turbulent falling film. The theory, when compared with the available experimental data is found to be in good agreement. Thus, the investigation brings out the effect of surface tension forces on the flow as well as heat transfer characteristics of falling film under turbulent flow conditions .
