Sinopsis

Simply by suspending a small quantity of liquid droplets, convective gas cooling of heated bodies is remarkably improved in comparison with single-phase gas cooling, with negligible increase in the power consumption of a blower. Heat and mass transfer of the gas-liquid mist cooling is an extremely complicated phenomenon depending on the temperatures, Reynolds number, liquid-to-gas mass flow ratio, droplet size distribution, and many other relevant parameters. In this paper, the modes, mechanism and application of the heat-transfer augmentation will be reviewed and discussed for various bodies and heat-exchanger coils, referring to the effects of controlling factors and other relevant parameters, such as body shape, blockage ratio, droplet-gas interaction, droplet deposition, surface structure and wettability, etc. Recent works as well as future trends and covered.
