Sinopsis

The thermal aspects of wear between a fixed cylindrical pin and a rotating disk immerged in liquid nitrogen are studied. Part of the work is devoted to the estimation of the heat transfer coefficient in the boiling regime. The temperature and heat flux entering into the pin at the rubbing surface are estimated from remote temperature measurements. A combined function specification regularization procedure is used for the solution of the inverse problem. The partition of heat is shown to be time-dependant and to depend on the respective abilities of the two solids to evacuate heat with the environment, as well as the solids thermal properties.
