Sinopsis

The paper presents the results of experimental and theoretical investigation of the mechanism of vapour phase formation in highly superheated liquids. It gives a classification of boiling centres and considers the conditions of their activity. Vaporization on centres of fluctuation nature has been considered in more detail. Experiments making use of pulse heating up and quasi-static pressure release have revealed the mechanism of boiling of superheated liquids in natural conditions and under the action of different factors initiating boiling. Problems connected with artificial introduction of centres of fluctuation nucleation with the aim of controlling processes of explosive boiling.
