Natural and Mixed Convection Heat Transfer in a Vertical Annulus with a Square Inner Cylinder

Sinopsis

An experimental study was conducted to determine the natural and mixed convective heat transfer characteristics in an air filled vertical annulus with a heated square inner cylinder. The inner cylinder was contained within a cooled outer cylinder equipped with inlet and outlet air injection ports. Results were obtained with the inner cylinder stationary or rotating. The natural and mixed (injection and/or rotation induced) convection heat transfer mechanisms were measured by systematic variation of the temperature difference between the inner and outer cylinders, the injected flow rate, and the rotational speed of the inner cylinder.
