Sinopsis

Experimental heat transfer characteristics using an array of impingement jets were studied experimentally in a rectangular channel. The coolant provided by an array of equally spaced jets is aimed at the target surface and exits out from the radial outlet. The effect of three orifice jet configurations having a single array of equally spaced orifice, jet Reynolds numbers(9300 ≤ Rej ≤ 18800), and the feeding channel aspect ratio(5 ≤ H/d ≤ 9). Orifice plate geometry significantly affects the Nusselt number distribution along the entire length of the target surface. Local Nusselt number increases with an increase in jet Reynolds number over the entire impingement surface. Feeding channel aspect ratio also affects the Nusselt number distribution with H/d = 9 giving the maximum values. A correlation was developed for averaged Nusselt number as a function of jet Reynolds number for the current outflow orientation.
