Sinopsis

Aiming to evaluate the effect of thermal properties of the sediments on the methane production induced by depressurization, this work investigated the dissociation behaviors in three different artificial hydrate-bearing sediments of which the thermal properties are significantly different. Quartz sand, corundum and silicon carbide with the same grain size of 60-80 mesh were selected to simulate the porous media. And the production pressure was set at 2.6 MPa in each experiment. The temperature, pressure, production rate and cumulative production of the methane gas were monitored simultaneously during the depressurization process. The dissociation rate and gas production ratio were derived to estimate the dissociation characteristics. Results shown that the sensible heat and the heat transferred from the ambient are the main driving force for the hydrate dissociation in the heat transfer process , which dominate the hydrate dissociation during depressurization.
