Sinopsis

Effect of ambient pressure on the oxy-fuel spray jet flame behavior containing soot formation is investigated. Large-eddy simulation (LES) is applied to spray jet flames at ambient pressures of 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 MPa. Jet-A is used as liquid fuel, and the evaporating droplets’ motions are tracked by a Lagrangian method in which a non-equilibrium Langmuir-Knudsen evaporation model is employed. As a turbulent combustion model, a flamelet/progress-variable approach which considers 274 chemical species and 1537 elementary reactions is used. The burner is an axial jet burner, for which fuel droplets and oxygen are injected from the central pipe, whereas oxygen is injected from the surrounding annulus. Results show that as the ambient pressure increases, maximum temperature increases and therefore the droplet evaporation is enhanced in the upstream region. Also, the high soot concentration region shift towards upstream with increasing the ambient pressure. These tendencies are in good agreement with the previous experiments.
