Sinopsis

Heat exchanger networks, which widely used in industrial and domestic, almost belong to multi-stream heat transfer equipment. In order to analyze and optimize this kind of heat transfer process, virtual distribution and mixing entransy analysis method is introduced in this paper. By this method, multi-stream heat transfer can be modeled as two-stream heat transfer, and the optimization analyses results of two typical three-stream heat exchanger networks show that the entransy-dissipation-based thermal resistance with virtual distribution and mixing is always corresponding to the heat transfer rate. That is to say, multi-stream heat transfer can be also optimized by the minimum thermal resistance principle.
