Sinopsis

This paper presents the lab-scale experimental work of condensing water from the humid air gas by using the advanced thermosyphon. It proved the concept of harvesting water vapor in the flue gas of natural gas combined-cycle (NGCC) power plants. The condensed water can be used for sub-ambient evaporative cooling and cool storage to improve the plant's performance. This innovative thermosyphon system consists of the high thermal conductivity polymer heat exchanger acting as a falling film evaporator and the air-cooled metal condenser. The gas flowed along the evaporator tube's axial direction, and condensed water was collected at the bottom of the tube. The experimental result is discussed and compared with the humid-air condensation result of the lab-scale prototype.
