Sinopsis

There was a strongly synergy association between the flow behaviors of bubble swarm patterns and heat transfer performance from the viewpoint of experimental analysis. In order to investigate bubbling mechanism of the fluids mixing process in a direct contact heat exchanger (DCHE), uniformity coefficient (UC) approach on the basis of L2-star discrepancy for quantifying the bubbles movement and inflection point of fluids mixing process behind the viewing windows was effective and powerful. Since the UC approach, as an alternative to other topological measure, such as the Betti numbers methods, takes the location of bubbles in DCHE into account, it was dependent on the orientation of the coordinate axes obviously. In this paper, the effect of orientation on measure of uniformity in DCHE was discussed. Simple linear models of bubble swarm patterns and the heat transfer performance of a DCHE were constructed using different coordinate axis. Real experimental patterns were analyzed and carried out to assess the effectiveness of the proposed novel investigation. This work brings new insights to accurately evaluate the quality of mixing state in different systems including our direct contact boiling heat process practically.
