Résumé

Axial heat conduction in a packed-bed reaction chamber can be used as a mechanism for promoting exothermic chemical reactions involving reactants flowing through the chamber. An analytical study of the steady-state behavior of this type of reactor was conducted which considers the simultaneous processes of heat transfer, mass transfer, and chemical reaction in the system. An integral method was employed in developing implicit equations describing temperature and concentration profiles in the reaction chamber. These equations were solved for a reactor system used to promote the decomposition of hydrazine.
