Résumé

The general problem of steady, laminar flow of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid of constant properties past a semi-infinite flat plate is considered. The applied magnetic field and free-stream velocity are uniform and parallel to the plate. The assumption on the electric field is lessened from the already established Greens pan-Carrier problem of zero electric field to include other physically realizable problems having arbitrary total currents within the boundary layer. Comparisons are made between the short-circuit and open-circuit conditions in terms of skin friction, current density at the plate surface, and heat transfer characteristics for both a thermally-insulated and a uniform-temperature plate.
