Résumé

An analysis is made for the problem of film boiling about a heated isothermal vertical cylinder embedded in a permeable medium filled with a subcooled liquid. Based on boundary layer approximations and the assumption of an abrupt vapor-liquid interface, a local similarity solution is obtained for the buoyancy-induced Darcian flow in the vapor and the liquid phases. The local Nusselt number is found to be dependent on the local vapor Rayleigh number, the curvature parameter, and the vapor film thickness parameter. The last parameter is an implicit function of four other dimensionless parameters relating to the degree of wall superheating, the extent of the subcooling of the surrounding fluid, and two property ratios of the vapor and the liquid phases. Application to film boiling about a stock intruded in a geothermal reservoir is illustrated.
