Résumé

Results from experiments with boiling nitrogen and Freon 11 (R11) in serrated-fin channels of plate-fin heat exchangers have been analysed using a film-flow model. The model uses local pressure gradients and satisfactorily correlates the test results from experiments with both fluids. It also provides a first estimate of the amount of entrained liquid in the vapour core. The implications of the results of the analysis for future experimental work and for designers are discussed.
