Résumé

Minimum film boiling temperatures were measured for two types of film boiling collapse: vapor film collapse following inverted annular film boiling and droplet-wall contact following dispersed droplet cooling. These minimum film boiling temperatures were unaffected by a propagating rewetting front and were measured in a unique forced convective film boiling study. The experiment covered a wide range of pressures, mass flows and coolant enthalpies. The parametric trends of the data were investigated and compared with existing minimum film boiling correlations. It was shown that at high qualities and high flows no distinct minimum film boiling temperature could be obtained due to the absence of a minimum in the boiling curve. An empirical correlation for the minimum film boiling temperature having the correct asymptotic trends was derived.
