Résumé

Heat transfer data downstream of three-dimensional trips were obtained at Mach 8 on a spherically-blunted cone having a semi-vertex angle of 9 degrees. Data were obtained for a range of trip heights, trip element circumferential spacing, model nose radius, and Reynolds number. Results are presented in the form of heat transfer maps as well as graphs of circumferential heat transfer variation at selected axial locations. Circumferential variations in heat transfer of up to 100 percent were measured at lower Reynolds numbers' however, the variation reduced to 20 percent at higher Reynolds corresponding to fully tripped flow. Oil flow photographs obtained during the tests are included, which show patterns indicative of longitudinal vortices.
