Résumé

Many of the refrigerants in common use today are miscible in lubricant oil. As a result, for systems with oil-lubricated compressors, some amount of oil is transported through the system. For this investigation, Refrigerant-12 was tested in combination with three paraffin base oils of different viscosities, i.e., 155, 290, and 515 SUS/38°C, over the range of oil concentrations to 10% by weight with boiling from commercial copper tubing.

Experimental results as reported in this paper, demonstrate the significant influence that this oil can have on the boiling heat transfer performance in refrigeration evaporators.
