PRECOALESCENCE DROP GROWTH RATES IN DROPWISE CONDENSATION

Résumé

The experimental facility developed permitted nigh speed photomacrographic recording of drop growth history in dropwise condensation over a range of heat flux, in a region where no data was previously available. The film analysis showed that the drop growth constant increases linearly with heat flux and drop diameter varies as the square root of time. The measured drop growth rates when matched with the drop growth rates calculated using the reported models, indicate that condenser thermal properties should also be considered in drop growth formulations.
