Résumé

The present investigation is concerned with the use of three dimensional surface protrusions to improve convective heat transfer to gases. A range of devices is being studied, but the space available permits data to be presented here from only a row of cubes at various pitches and a row of vortex generator blades in six different arrangements. The cubes were found to produce the highest local improvement, but the effect of the vortex generators extended further downstream. Of the vortex generators, the counter-rotating systems were the more effective.
