Résumé

This paper presents an approximate perturbation solution for determining a transient temperature distribution in an infinite slab insulated on one side and subject to a mixed convective and nonlinear radiant boundary condition on the other. To evaluate the accuracy of the perturbation solution, a finite difference numerical solution is also obtained. Perturbation solution accuracy is found to increase with decreasing perturbation parameter, which is related to radiation strength, and is improved when convection rate or Biot modulus is increased. Errors were almost undetectable at short exposure times, but increased to several percentage points at steady state for some sample cases.
